Welcome to Soul Kitchen in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. We are more than just your ordinary cafe or coffee shop. More importantly we are a community gathering space dedicated to tackling food waste, serving wholesome meals and making space for everyone.
We have a "Pay What You Can" model which means everyone can afford to eat with us - can't afford to pay at all? Not a problem, just use one of our prepaid for meals or have something on the house. Nobody should be going hungry and we are here to bridge the gap between perfectly edible surplus food & hungry bellies.

What makes us different
We rethink the standard cafe model by putting sustainability, ethical sourcing, and community welfare at the very core of what we offer. Our menu changes daily and depends on what we have had donated via surplus collections, what we could source locally and sometimes what is growing in our allotment.
Our team is a variety of people as we believe all walks of life should be given the opportunity to be active in their community. Whether that is the teenager completing their Duke of Edinburgh award, a person with disabilities building some confidence to join in the workforce, a retired person who has felt isolated and lonely then we make space for everyone where we can.
Rescued produce
We partner with local suppliers to rescue surplus ingredients and turn them into hearty daily specials. We also have a Share Shop for folks to come and grab surplus goodies to take home.
Community projects
From our pay-it-forward initiatives to workshops, talks and networking we love to spread the word and inspire others to mobilise their community
Conscious coffee
We take coffee very seriously at Soul. We serve specialty brews, work closely with roasters and bring exceptional coffee to our town
Gathering space
We have a private room upstairs that we use for extra dining, our Queer Cafe and it is available for private hire

Soul Kitchen started with a simple belief: good food should bring people together and should not be heading to landfill. Operating in the heart of Berwick-Upon-Tweed, we have transformed an everyday cafe into a mindful movement where your daily coffee stop and social impact go hand in hand.
